Becoming a member
IFCM members support the worldwide choral movement. Your support is very important!
Being a member means that you are contributing to the international choral movement, facilitating scholarships, exchange programs for conductors and choral groups in developing countries, and international choral events.
By joining IFCM, you make it possible to build projects that bring together choral musicians from more than 80 countries.
IFCM encourages the formation of choral organizations in countries and regions where none exists; fosters and promotes international exchange programs for choirs, conductors, composers and students of choral music; promotes, coordinates and encourages choral festivals, seminars, competitions and meetings organized by its members; facilitates the dissemination of choral repertoire, research, recordings; encourages the inclusion of choral music in general education and promotes the exchange of information on pedagogy and training.
Because of this global effort, IFCM is the voice of choral music within the International Music Council of the UNESCO. Because of this global effort IFCM is your voice in the World of Choral Music.
IFCM facilitates choral music
IFCM is a non-profit association and all its members are entitled to all privileges of the Federation:
• Members take part in all events that are organized or sponsored by IFCM
• Members receive copies of Federation publications
• Members receive and are listed in the World Choral Census, which will put you in touch with over 700 choral organizations in the world
• Members receive the International Choral Bulletin quarterly
• Members are eligible for discounted registration fees for IFCM activities
• Members receive help with international contacts
IFCM's ongoing projects in which members may take part
We are proud of the many achievements during IFCM's existence. IFCM produces significant, ongoing projects like:
• World Symposium on Choral Music
• International Choral Bulletin (published quarterly in four languages)
• World Choral Census (daily updated and available online to all members)
• World Youth Choir and World Chamber Choir
• Musica International (www.musicanet.org), the worldwide choral repertoire on the Web
• ChoralNet (www.choralnet.org), the official website of IFCM
Each year we hold master classes throughout the world and sanction other international events.
