Obituary: Emmanuel
Published: Dec 31,2018

The Belgian choral network lost one of its most fervent supporters. Emmanuel ‘’Manu’’ Poiré died on November 28, 2018, a few days before his 90th birthday.

Emmanuel Poiré was the founder of A Coeur Joie Belgium and of several choirs in Namur, Belgium, among which the renowned Choeur de Chambre de Namur. He was the artistic director of the Europa Cantat Festivals in 1967 and 1982. Thanks to his international network, he brought to Namur several singing weeks and workshops which led to the creation of a Choral Centre supported by the City and the Province of Namur. The French Community designated Mr. Poiré to develop choral singing in Namur which became the capital of choral singing. ‘’Manu’’ served choral music during all his life.

Our deepest gratitude to him! RIP.
