An IFCM initiative designed to create strong personal connections between choirs around the world, partnering skilled and less skilled groups together with the view to:
- Sharing skills and expertise
- Sharing repertoire
- Fostering exchanges
- Create Touring exchanges and opportunities
- Developing cultural relationships
- Creating and developing true friendships through choral music – real and virtual
- Seeding collaborations for:
- Joint concerts
- New touring opportunities
- Joint commissions and performances
- Conductor exchanges
- Chorister exchanges
- Funding sourcing and assistance
The program would be facilitated and driven by the IFCM (through the designated IFCM coordinators)
The program would be entirely self – funded by participants, and a free service to financial IFCM member choirs and organizations. There is the potential that private, corporate and national funding support could be obtained for selected and approved projects.
The IFCM will act in good faith and in the spirit of the project to match compatible choirs, but cannot be held responsible in the unlikely case of negative outcomes relating to any aspect of the program.
WHY DO WE NEED IT?
This program targets an identified need in the choral world to offer assistance, expertise and developmental programs to choirs in regions of choral need in a way that is built on long-term friendship, exchange and co-operation.
The program is designed to partner established choirs and conductors with choirs and conductors in less developed areas/countries. It is expected that more financially affluent choirs and communities could offer assistance, skills and programs to less fortunate choral programs.
The IFCM will act as the initial conduit and brokerage for connecting compatible choirs and conductors together and, as the projects develop, assist with the promotion of the relationship through the IFCM publications and website, and also through consultation to IFCM board and members.
Participating choirs and their conductors are expected to enter into the spirit of the program and assist in any way to make the project viable and successful. Partnerships could be initially for a two-year period but it is hoped that they will be successful and continue long into the future.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
For any IFCM member with membership in good standing, either direct members or indirect members (members of IFCM Founding Members (FM), as stated in the agreement signed by the FM). Proof of membership will be requested.
