During the IFCM General Assembly on July 29, 2019, in Lisbon, a new membership structure including revised benefits was explained to the members present at the meeting who unanimously approved it. This new system of membership fees and benefits is now more transparent. For the first time IFCM presented a new type of membership – a lifetime membership which will correspond better to the expectation of a certain group of members. The IFCM membership fees vary according to three country groups, based on the United Nations' Human Development Index - HDI list. The 'human development index' is published by the United Nations. This index is not based on the economic situation only. It takes into account the life expectancy, the under-five mortality rate, etc...
