World Youth Choir 2019 Session: The WYC goes to France!
Published: Sep 29,2018

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the World Youth Choir will have its 2019 summer session in southern France, in the historical region of Occitània, also called the Oc Country. The various organisers and partners of this exciting session are using their skills and resources to provide the best conditions for an unforgettable event. It will be a unique experience for the singers as well as for the audiences.

The Occitània region has a vast musical tradition which includes many prestigious festivals. It offers a rich culture of gastronomy, diversified natural landscape, and centuries of history.

The ten-day rehearsal session (July 15-26, 2019) will be held in Millau, a city with a vibrant cultural life and an architectural heritage in permanent evolution. The concert tour (July 27 - August 3) will take the choir to the International Festival 'Sacred Music, Musics of the World' at Sylvanès Abbey in Millau, followed by performances in Toulouse, in Vaison-la-Romaine (Choralies festival), and in other surrounding cities. Creating a truly international tour, the choir will perform in Catalonia and Switzerland (venues TBA).

The organisers and partners of the 2019 World Youth Choir Session are Centre culturel de Rencontre de l'Abbaye de Sylvanès, Plate-forme interrégionale, Atelier Régional des Pratiques Amateurs, JM France, DRAC Occitanie, the departmental council of Aveyron, the region of Occitanie, and the City of Millau.

Recruitment for singers (ages 17-26) will begin in October 2018! Talented singers from all over the world, don't miss the application deadline. Stay tuned on the World Youth Choir website.
