Due to insufficient number of participating choirs at this year’s International Choir Festival, previously scheduled from May 12 – 14, 2022 in Prijedor, Organizational Board of the Festival decided to cancel it at its session.
Taking into account all parts of this choral competition with regards to the Zlatna vila Propositions of Participation and based on recommendation of the Artistic Council presided by Aljoša Novaković, the Board has decided to make a pause this year in holding the Festival. The number of choirs that have confirmed to participate is less than the required number to hold the Festival at all, which is why the program and concept of the Festival itself are highly a question mark. Members of the Organizational Board with mayor Slobodan Major as chairperson were in complete agreement to pause the Festival for 2022.
Unfortunately, consequences of the COVID -19 pandemia have had a negative impact on organizing another choral event, Review of Children’s Choral Singing called ‘’Mala vila“. This is the event that used to precede the Zlatna vila International Choir Festival „Zlatna vila“. Members of the Board brought the same decision as in the case of the Festival. To remind, 18th International Choir Festival ‘’Zlatna vila“ in Prijedor was held in May 2018 when it was decided to carry on with the Festival as a biennale event. Due to COVID -19 pandemia, aimed at trying to keep the continuity of the Festival, last year this festival with a great reputation in the country and abroad was held in a form of a TV show.
