Il Coro Polifonico di Ruda, Italian Male Choir Celebrates its 100 Anniversary
Published: Mar 31,2022

More than three thousand concerts, 42 top prizes at the most prestigious international choral competitions (Arezzo, Gorizia, Tallin, Vienna, Malaga, Derry, Florence, Rimini, Cork, Shaoxing, Lloret de Mar, Vittorio Veneto), collaborations with several Italian orchestras: this is, in summary, the history of the Italian Male Choir, directed by Fabiana Noro, which this year celebrates one hundred years of history. In 2022 and 2023, the Choir will perform in Italy and abroad "Genesi," the work by Renato Miani, for soloists, male choir, and orchestra, in honor of the Unesco cities of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The IMC masters all the classical repertoire: the music of the sixteenth century, Romanticism, and contemporary polyphony. Many composers have written for the choir. Among others, Daniele Zanettovich, Orlando Dipiazza, Gion Antoni Derungs, Remo Anzovino, Luca Ciut, Manolo da Rold.

The IMC boasts twenty CDs, and the last one focuses on choral and organ music by Joseph Gabriel Rheinberger (1839-1901). Several Italian major institutions were interested in its activity; in particular, the soundtrack of "Resina," a film by Renzo Carbonera, entered in the trio of the Globi d'oro award instituted by Italian film journalists.

The IMc is also active in the publishing sector: it has published works by Italian authors of the eighteenth century (Bartolomeo Cordans, Giovanni and Domenico Rampini, Giovanni Battista Tomadini) the nineteenth century (Alberto Mazzucato) up to the contemporaries.

The choir organizes several choral festivals, including Quaresima in Musica, Sacre Meditazioni, Cororgano, and CantaNatale, intending to make Italian and foreign choirs sing, with particular reference to children's and youth groups.

Moreover, for some years now, the choir has been organizing the festival "Concerts in the basilica" - Aquileia and Grado - mainly aimed at international tourists who choose the Upper Adriatic for their vacations. The Gustav Mahler Jungend Orchester and the Children's Choir of La Scala in Milan have performed in these concerts.
