On 31 October 2023, IFCM Vice-President María Guinand was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Universidad Metropolitana de Caracas for her exceptional contribution to the development of Venezuelan choral music and for her tireless educative work. María, along with teachers Alberto Grau and José Antonio Abreu, has been a fundamental piece in the development of the Venezuelan Choral Movement throughout the republic, as well as in different Latin American countries.
