The European Forum on Music 2024 Call for Session Proposals
Published: Mar 22,2024

The European Forum on Music (EFM) is back with its 12th edition 'Equity in Music' and we can’t wait to welcome you in Sofia, Bulgaria from 5 to 7 June 2024.

The term 'equity' can be understood in many ways but the most common is that in relation to fairness and a situation in which everyone is treated equally. The music sector in Europe boasts rich diversity, a powerful asset enabling widespread connection across societies both within Europe and globally. Yet, we must ask: is this diversity truly reflected in every aspect of music, from activities to market access and involvement? The EFM will provide the space to exchange on the current state of equity in music.

Embracing the topic of ‘Equity in Music’, the European Music Council is reaching out to its membership community for session suggestions/topics for discussion during this year’s event. The EFM 2024 encourages submissions from all backgrounds. Session proposals encompassing culture, region, gender, and other intersectional themes, are particularly welcomed.

The format of your proposal should be as either a question or a topic to be discussed NOT a project to be highlighted. Please submit your proposal via this form

Your suggestion will be selected by a selection committee made up of EMC board members and members from the EMC team. Suggestions may be accepted fully or in parts. Speakers at the EFM will receive a free registration as well as two nights of accommodation.

The deadline for session proposals is Tuesday, 9 April 2024.

This year’s EFM will also feature a celebration for the 75th anniversary of the International Music Council. The IMC is planning a year-long collective celebration, and more than ever, EMC/IMC member organisations will be crucial in amplifying the impact of IMC. For more ideas on how you can get involved, please take a look at the email sent on 21 March 2024.

Please be sure to already register for the EFM here.
