As Aotearoa heads at last into winter, the WSCM2020 team is thinking ahead to nextwinter and positively buzzing at the prospect of the international choral world descending on our little corner of the globe. The Asia Pacific Youth Choir (APYC) is pleased to announce that 98 applications were received for the APYC 2019 session, the largest number so far! Conductors Without Borders (CWB) is one of the major projects of IFCM which deliberately embodies the mission of the federation. In a significant number of countries around the world, national choral associations have not yet developed the infrastructure to teach choral conducting throughout the country. CWB was created as a mutual, joint assistance program with the objective of training local conductors/instructors through the assistance of professional conductors from other countries who offer their skill and expertise.

In 2018 we celebrated one of the most special editions of World Choral Day throughout the past 28 years. Thanks to the 100th anniversary of the ending of WWI in 2018, the timeframe of 2018 World Choral Day was extended for more than a month, something that never happened previously. In addition, the project was raised to another level in terms of communication & design.

The WYC international jury, the conductor of the 2019 session and the WYC 2019 session manager met in Toulouse from March 12-14, to discuss the details of the upcoming session, visit some locations for the rehearsal session and concert tour, and - most importantly - listen to all the auditions received and select the singers who will take part in the project this year!
