Japan Choral Association’s annual Kodomo (Children) Online Chorus Festival was held on 28 March 2021. Sixteen children’s choirs (484 singers) shared performances online and at a concert hall in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka, the home of world-known manufacturers of musical instruments such as Yamaha and Kawai.

Recently released - Recommendations for returning to choral rehearsals. On 19 March 2021, the (mainly) U.S.-based Performing Arts Aerosol Research Study coalition released an updated and streamlined guidance document which includes an explanation of the Center for Disease Control's new distancing guidelines and what these recommendations mean in terms of safely singing together again. Overcoming the inevitable impact of pandemic restrictions, Fundación Schola Cantorum de Venezuela embraced the new reality and expanded its online capacity to provide ongoing contact with all the actors in the choral community. One component of this digital initiative is compiling the institutional collection of recordings, seminars, and masterclasses and making these resources available through the La Schola YouTube channel.

The first meeting of the World Symposium on Choral Music (WSCM) 2023 Organizing Committee was held on January 3, 2021. Composed of six International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) representatives, six representatives from the Qatar National Choral Association (QNCA), and two honorary members, the team is set to work on the monumental and exciting task of bringing the WSCM to the Middle East region for the first time. To that end, the QNCA representatives are from Qatar and the Arab region. Qatar, with its ancient traditions of hospitality and contemporary global outlook, offers a unique and welcoming setting for voices from around the world to mix, mingle, and share their unique choral traditions and knowledge.

Conductors without Borders (CWB) is one of the most significant projects of IFCM. For the past 13 years, CWB has organized many professional development events in parts of the world where choral music education is still not available to everyone. There have been successful sessions in Africa and Latin & Central America. Following a review of the CWB project in early 2020, the IFCM board approved a new, improved structure which will expand CWB even more. The new structure provides a mechanism through which anyone can apply to organize a CWB project in their country and can even become one of the conductors.
