Japan Choral Association (JCA) is pleased to announce that Ms. Saeko Hasegawa, former vice president of JCA and a board member of IFCM, was appointed new president of JCA, and was officially inaugurated at JCA's General Assembly on May 22, replacing Mr. Shinsuke Kishi, who served as JCA president for 8 years.

In the framework of World Choral EXPO 2022, IFCM has created a program for young choral managers. YOUNG Youth International Management Program aims to give ten selected young individuals from all over the world an opportunity to learn and expand their knowledge and skills in the international cultural field by working closely with the WCE organising team. Building on the success of the YEMP program (Young Event Management Program) which the European Choral Association has organised for many years as part of Europa Cantat and the fact that IFCM currently has three employees who are former YEMPers, we want to provide an opportunity for young choral organisers from across the globe to gain experience on the spot as well as invest in the future of IFCM.

We regretfully announce the passing of Christoph Kühlewein on 11 May 2022. Christoph was the Secretary General of the European Federation of Young Choirs (now European Choral Association) between 1976 and 1982. He later became a member of their Music Commission and then an advisor. Christoph conducted several choirs including a French-German choir in Paris.

The Friends of the European Choral Association is a community of individuals, choirs, and other legal bodies who wish to support the work of the European Choral Association through their membership and through fundraising activities. The association also administers the Noël Minet Fund Scholarship which provides support for participation in some training activities for young singers, conductors, or composers with limited economic resources.

More than three thousand concerts, 42 top prizes at the most prestigious international choral competitions (Arezzo, Gorizia, Tallin, Vienna, Malaga, Derry, Florence, Rimini, Cork, Shaoxing, Lloret de Mar, Vittorio Veneto), collaborations with several Italian orchestras: this is, in summary, the history of the Italian Male Choir, directed by Fabiana Noro, which this year celebrates one hundred years of history. In 2022 and 2023, the Choir will perform in Italy and abroad "Genesi," the work by Renato Miani, for soloists, male choir, and orchestra, in honor of the Unesco cities of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

In conversations with choral leaders and in writings about the activities of choirs worldwide, it is apparent that the topic of diversity in choral repertoire planning is a special interest and focus. Evidence of the importance of this heightened interest in diversity is an increased Inclusion of works by female composers in concert programs. It is not surprising that there is a myriad of extraordinary pieces written by women, for all choral settings and for any type of concert theme. These compositions are simply not known widely.
