In conversations with choral leaders and in writings about the activities of choirs worldwide, it is apparent that the topic of diversity in choral repertoire planning is a special interest and focus. Evidence of the importance of this heightened interest in diversity is an increased Inclusion of works by female composers in concert programs. It is not surprising that there is a myriad of extraordinary pieces written by women, for all choral settings and for any type of concert theme. These compositions are simply not known widely.

Leading Voices, a major event for conductors and vocal leaders in 2022, has recently updated its program! Working to present an inspiring program with international leaders in the choral field, the Leading Voice team has recently confirmed Accent as a guest concert ensemble. Consisting of six members from five countries, this a cappella, close-harmony, jazz group met and began recording together online in 2011. Since then, they have released five albums and toured Europe, North America, and Asia. Check out the website to see other additions to the program.

Darinka Matić Marović (06.02.1937-15.07.2020) was a lady of world fame and respect. An artist, conductor, professor, and first women Dean of University of Art in Belgrade, Darinka was determined, sharp, focused, emotional, strong in performance, and gentle at heart. She remained the center of cultural life and set high standards for new generations of artists. Darinka was a woman of music. On the very mention of her name, people immediately connect three music institutions: Academic Choir Collegium Musicum, Academic Choir Obilic, and Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade. Darinka’s outstanding work was rewarded throughout her life, and she was the winner of many awards and high achievements in the region and in the world.
